Drug offences
Pip has represented clients in both the Magistrates Court and Supreme Court charged with various drug offences. Drug offences can range from simple possession through to selling, trafficking or importaing a controlled substance or plant. Drug offences often arise after Police receive information and obtain a warrant to search a building, or if they come in to possession of a phone with evidence of drug sales. There are often legal issues that can arise in relation to evidence obtained during these searches, so it is important to seek legal advice.
In 2019, Pip represented DB on a charge of trafficking in a controlled substance. The Prosecution argued that DB was trafficking in a number of different drugs that were found in his possession, however whilst DB accepted that he was trafficking in cannabis, he said that he was only in possession of the other drugs for personal use. This matter went to a disputed facts hearing, where the facts were decided by a Judge. Pip successfully argued that DB was only guilty of trafficking in cannabis and he was only sentenced on that basis.
